Position Overview
We are seeking a mission-driven Adult Education Programs Coordinator with strong experience in ESL and GED instruction and program coordination to help us bring greater structure, consistency, and impact to our growing adult education department.
This position plays a key role in strengthening Sacred Heart Center’s adult learning programs—including GED, ESL, Plaza Comunitaria, Citizenship Preparation, Conversational Spanish, and the Latino Leadership Institute (LLI). The coordinator leads a team of staff and volunteers, ensures the effectiveness and consistency of program delivery, and works collaboratively to connect adult learners with the tools and opportunities to reach their goals.
We are looking for someone who is deeply passionate about the Latino community, grounded in adult education best practices, and committed to building an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Lead short- and long-term planning to improve program consistency and scalability, aligned with SHC’s Strategic Plan and community needs.
Build and maintain structured processes for curriculum delivery, assessments, staff support, and student engagement across all adult education programs.
Supervise and support a diverse instructional team, including GED and ESL lead teachers, subject-matter instructors, LLI facilitators, and volunteer teachers.
Oversee development, implementation, and evaluation of instructional curricula and program activities, particularly for GED and ESL.
Ensure that educational offerings are responsive to learner needs, culturally relevant, and aligned with adult education standards.
Coordinate student recruitment, intake, diagnostics, registration, and orientation.
Maintain accurate student data on attendance, retention, progress, and assessments.
Monitor instructor performance and provide feedback, coaching, and professional development opportunities.
Manage financial recordkeeping for adult programs, including payments, reconciliations, and reporting.
Cultivate a welcoming, respectful learning environment that reflects the lived experiences of our community.
Collaborate with other SHC program staff to ensure that adult learners have access to wraparound services.
Ensure full compliance with Diocesan guidelines, organizational policies, and adult education best practices.

Bachelor’s Degree Required
Ability to connect with others and forge strong relationships, especially youth
Bilingual in Spanish and English, bicultural.
Highly organized, analytical, IT-competent – proficient in Microsoft Office programs. Knowledge of Apricot System preferred.
Ability to perform several tasks concurrently, time management and organizational skills
Ability to organize and maintain detailed records, complete necessary paperwork, and meet deadlines
Exemplary record of strong communication and interpersonal skills and customer service focus, excellent follow-up, and an ability to work with diverse groups in a courteous and professional manner
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends is necessary
Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to and passion for SHC’s mission
