Position Overview
The Bilingual Adult Education Programs Assistant provides planning, implementation, administrative, and supervisory assistance and support to the Adult Education Programs Coordinator and the Adult Education teaching team within the Adult Education portfolio at Sacred Heart Center, which includes English as a Second Language, GED in Spanish, Citizenship, Spanish literacy, Conversational Spanish, Latino Leadership Institute, and computer literacy. The Bilingual Adult Education Programs Assistant also ensures that all evening programs at our Perry Street campus, including children’s programs, run smoothly and safely. This position reports to the Adult Education Programs Coordinator and works as part of a team that includes the Lead GED Teacher and GED subject matter teachers, the Lead ESL teacher and volunteer ESL teachers, and the Satellite Site Facilitator.
Key Responsibilities
The Bilingual Adult Education Programs Assistant will have the following primary responsibilities:
- Serve as the key point of on-site contact and support for all Sacred Heart Center teachers, volunteers, and staff during evening classes and programs at the 1400 Perry Street campus.
- Manage all Adult Education voicemail and email correspondence and inquiries.
- Assist in planning, implementing, and administering the semester registration and enrollment process for all Adult Education programs.
- Assist in the planning, implementation and evaluation of Adult education programs, including workshops, classes and special events.
- Assist with measuring program impact and program evaluation.
- Serve as a point of contact for participants, providing information about courses, schedules and resources.
Assist the Adult Education Coordinator in observing and/or evaluating Sacred Heart Center classroom staff, both paid and unpaid, to ensure the quality of the programs. - Assist with curriculum planning and lesson planning, as needed, for all programs included in the Adult Education portfolio.
- Assist instructors with course materials, classroom logistics, and other needs to ensure effective class delivery.
- Work as part of a team with other Sacred Heart Center staff to accomplish overall organizational goals.

Experience and Attributes

- Bachelor’s Degree and at least 2-3 years of experience in Adult Education or English as a Second/Foreign Language, or related experience.
- Bilingual advanced proficiency in Spanish and English required. Bicultural preferred.
- Ability to work on-site at our 1400 Perry Street campus Monday-Thursday from 12:30-9pm is required.
- Highly organized, analytical, IT-competent – proficient in Microsoft Office programs, the Google work suite, Apricot case management software, and ability to learn new programs as needed.
- Ability to organize and maintain detailed records, including correspondence notes, complete necessary paperwork, and meet deadlines.
- Exemplary record of strong communication and interpersonal skills and customer service focus, excellent follow-up, and an ability to work with individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences in a courteous and professional manner.

Schedule: 40 hours in person at the 1400 Perry Street campus. The schedule is 12:30 until 9:00 pm mon-Thursday. Fridays 8:30-5:00 pm.
