The Outreach & Community Initiatives Coordinator is charged with ensuring that the Sacred Heart Center community partnerships and initiatives receive the appropriate support and assistance to achieve their goals and to run smoothly, including our community hub and family support work.

Coordinate the community hub program for the Center

  • Prepare a weekly calendar of Center events
  • Coordinate the community hub program for the Center
  • Assist in communicating with external community partners about services provided and events held at the Center
  • Assist with promotion and outreach of Center events to the larger community
  • Assist with operations support (planning and logistics) for community hub events and space usage requests, working with Center staff, Parrish staff, and community partners
  • Assist in implementing organizational tools to formalize the community hub work and program
  • Collect data from partners as to services provided and numbers of people served
  • Coordinate staff/volunteers for outreach events in the larger community
  • Coordinate internal communication about community events, including resource areas, TV monitor, bulletins, etc.

Provide family support through information and referral and light case management

  • Serve as a go-to resource for individuals and families that ask questions about community services
  • Connect community members with appropriate services
  • Provide guidance and advocacy to assist individuals and families in navigating U.S. systems, with light case management, as part of the Family Support Program
  • Research and develop resource listings that will assist in connecting individuals and families to available services
  • Implement and administer organizational tools and an assessment process to formalize the Family Support Program
  • Collect data and track types of requests received and fielded, using appropriate database
  • Translate documents necessary to assist individuals and families
  • Explore strategies to implement trauma informed lens into SHC work
  • Support Center educational programs on an as needed basis, including some communications support
  • Support additional administrative needs of office on an as needed basis
  • Assist in developing organizational tools to improve the organizational infrastructure of the Center

Experience and Attributes: 

Ideal candidates for this position will share our commitment to our mission and to our values of compassion, inclusion, equity, and collaboration, and have related experience, including:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and a minimum two years’ experience in a human service organization
  • Ability to connect with others and forge strong relationships
  • Bilingual and bicultural in Spanish and English
  • Highly organized, analytical, IT-competent – proficient in Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to perform several tasks concurrently, time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to organize and maintain detailed records; complete necessary paperwork and meet deadlines
  • Self-starter and highly motivated
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with exceptional attention to details, a strong customer service focus, excellent follow-up, and an ability to work with diverse groups in a courteous and professional manner
