The Youth Program Coordinator is responsible for administering and implementing youth and children’s programs and related youth activities at the Sacred Heart Center.

Key Responsibilities

The Youth Programs Coordinator will have the following primary responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement activities for youth and children
  • Schedule activities, facilities, and volunteers as required
  • Supervise and lead activities for youth and children
  • Encourage and recruit youth and children to participate in programs
  • Obtain, when necessary, parental support and consent for activities and field trips
  • Monitor the use of equipment and facilities
  • Promote youth and children’s programs in the larger community
  • Ensure that youth and youth organizations are aware of available activities
  • Conduct marketing and outreach to promote youth programs
  • Attend community meetings to promote youth programs and identify opportunities for youth development with local companies
  • Maintain contacts with local and regional organizations for youth in order to build collaborative relationships

Administer youth and children’s programs

  • Provide overall coordination to current SHC youth and children’s programming, including College and Career Bound, ExcELL, Pasitos Exitosos, Cielito Lindo summer camp, Art Studio, Kids of the Corazon, Boy Scouts
  • In partnership with Director of Programs, provide supervision to youth program staff and volunteers, ensuring compliance with safety standards and required training
  • Create a yearly plan for youth programming that seeks to expand SHC current youth programs, aligned with resources available
  • Ensure information is tracked by program staff and prepare reports concerning youth programs, costs, numbers of participants, equipment and facility use, and other program indicators, as required by funding sources
  • Provide monthly and yearly reports about youth programs and opportunities
  • Ensure that all programs, activities, and volunteers are implemented and operating according to relevant policies and procedures

Assist with Administration/Program Support

  • Support other Center educational programs on an as needed basis
  • Support additional administrative needs of office on an as needed basis
  • Work as part of a team with other SHC staff to accomplish overall organizational goals

Experience and Attributes: 
Ideal candidates for this position will share our commitment to our mission and to our values of compassion, inclusion, equity, and collaboration, and have related experience, including:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum two years’ experience in a human service organization or youth development
  • Ability to connect with others and forge strong relationships, especially youth
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English, bicultural
  • Highly organized, analytical, IT-competent – proficient in Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to perform several tasks concurrently, time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to organize and maintain detailed records; complete necessary paperwork and meet deadlines
  • Exemplary record of strong communication skills and customer service focus, excellent follow-up, and an ability to work with diverse groups in a courteous and professional manner
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends is necessary.
